Welcome to the website of the German Knee Society
The Germany Knee Society (Deutsche Kniegesellschaft e.V. – DKG) was founded in Munich in the summer of 2012.
A group of trauma surgeons and orthopedists set themselves the goal of bringing together knee surgery experts within a specialist association.
The founding members were: Prof. Dr. med. Peter Angele, Prof. Dr. med. Rüdiger v. Eisenhart-Rothe, Prof. Dr. med. Karl-Heinz Frosch, Prof. Dr. med. Stefan Hinterwimmer, PD Dr. med. Robert Hube, Prof. Dr. med. Andreas Imhoff, Prof. Dr. med. Christoph Lohmann, Prof. Dr. med. Hermann Mayr, Prof. Dr. med. Philipp Niemeyer, Prof. Dr. med. Wolf Petersen, Prof. Dr. med. Michael Raschke, Prof. Dr. med. Norbert P. Südkamp and PD Dr. med. Thore Zantop.
The society wishes to promote research and training for physicians, therapists and scientists on injuries and diseases of the knee joint. It aims to unite trauma surgeons, experts in endoprosthetics, sports trauma specialists, sports medics and academic researchers.
The professional work of the association lies in illustrating to the general public, associations, policy makers, and service providers how injuries, diseases, deformities and wear of the knee joint and the periarticular structures in the locomotor system can be prevented, diagnosed and treated.
